Why CNA Training?
It turns out CNA Training is the recession proof job. Let’s face it health care is here to stay. Many choices of employment opportunities for CNA includes but not limited to; Hospitals, Long Term Care Facilities, Assisted Living Facilities, Home Health, Hospice, and Private- In-Home care giving.
What is a CNA License?
The CNA License means you are certified through the state as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and you met the required hours to achieve the license. With a CNA license your growth potential in the health care field is endless.
How many hours are required to receive a certificate of completion?
Our program requires 96 hours, 78 Class/Lab hours along with 18 Clinical hours.
Is the Tennessee State License valid in other states?
No, students will complete Endorsement or Reciprocity, which means you are transferring the license to another state. You do not have to take the state examination again. It will be an extension of your Tennessee License, but you can not apply for other states until you have received your Tennessee State CNA License in your hands. We will provide the required forms for which state you will be transferring to.
Do I need a High school diploma or GED to attend the program?
No! If you have not obtained your high school diploma or GED and you are 16 years of age or older, you may take an Ability to Benefit Test for admittance to the program.
Those students who have received a high school diploma or GED Must provide CCTC with an official transcript required to take the Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program.
The class I want to take is full. Can you override the class max to let me in? If not, can I be added to a waiting list?
We must follow the Tennessee Board of Nursing regulations for student/teacher ratios, so we are unable to allow additional students into the class. However we do offer a waiting list, but we suggest that you register as soon as classes become available. Spaces often open during the period after orientations begin but before class starts. If a registered student fails to show, or has not met all of the requirements, then we will fill the opening with an eligible student.
Can I use an older edition of the textbook than what is listed?
Yes, you can use a previous edition of the textbook. However, we recommend that the edition you use is no more than one edition older than the current edition. If you are using an older edition, ask your instructor for the reading assignments from that edition. We will have the reading assignments from the previous edition, but may not be able to offer the assignments for older editions. Note; newer editions have been updated to help students pass the state board exams.
How long are lunch break?.
Lunch breaks are short, so it is advisable to bring a lunch. A refrigerator and a microwave are available for student use. You may also bring drinks during classroom hours.
Where will i go for my clinical?
Clinicals will be performed at local area nursing homes. At this time all students are required to have a COVID-19 test completed by clinical site prior to clinical dates.
Will my clinical time be the same as my class schedule?
No, Students enrolled in the full-time program will report to the clinical site at 7:30 am and will leave the facility at 2:30 pm. The part-time evening class will report to the clinical site at 4:00 pm and will leave the facility at 9:00 pm. The part-time weekend class will report to clinical at 7:30 am and leave the facility at 3:00 pm.
